Crafty Accounts Package

If you run a Craft Based Business keeping on top of your accounting records and the annual self-assessment tax deadline can feel really stressful.
You promise yourself each year that you’ll do better and keep up to date. You’re constantly chasing new clients, creating new products and delivering to tight deadlines.
You know your creative skills and experience should be making you profit but keeping an eye on the actual numbers and doing your tax return often slips down the to do list.

When did you last check how your business is growing in cash terms?
You don’t want to be an accountant. That’s not what you signed up for. But why pay someone else a chunk of your profit when you could do it yourself. Simply.
Keep reading, because I can make this easy for you.

Hi, I'm Claire, the face behind The Crafty Fawkes.
My mum taught me to knit when I was about 7 and it has been a go to activity for me ever since, with cross stitch and crochet joining in over the years. As someone with long term depression I find the rhythm and tactile nature of wool crafts soothing and a perfect way to keep my brain from spiralling into the anxiety and overthinking that often accompanies depression. Self care for mental health is a passion of mine and I love sharing my skills with others, whether they are new to the craft or want to improve their knowledge.
I live in Aberdeenshire with my husband and a very large stash of wool. I moved here after university, having been brought up in East Sussex, and now I feel like an honorary Scot. I love that I’m close to the city but far enough out that I’m surrounded by fields and hills.
I have a lovely community of friends in my village, including my band mates. We met in the local pub and I’ve been singing with them since 2023. It’s so much fun and another great creative outlet for the daily stresses of life.
In 2024 I trained and qualified as a knitting technical editor, adding another string to my bow and another revenue stream to my business.
While my passion is knitting, crochet and all things crafty, I am also a Chartered Management Accountant, having worked in the Oil & Gas and Retail sectors for over 20 years.
I’ve never really felt like an accountant though. Accountants are grey! Only my hair is that colour.
